Protect Our Open Space
Our Open Space is the greatest civic achievement of Boulder’s last 50 years; it is the most far-sighted and important policy enacted in Boulder in our lifetimes. Our Open Space is the soul of Boulder, and its acquisition and maintenance has created a unique urban environment, which must be preserved for future generations. We are not owners of our Open Space; we merely serve as stewards, and it falls upon each generation to protect it from overuse and degradation.
Where we can accommodate active recreational uses on Open Space without long-term environmental impact, we should do so, provided such uses are consistent with the policies of conservation and preservation. Open Space is the legacy handed down to us by previous generations, and we need to make it our legacy to future ones.
